Table is a necessary device for hot rolling mill in transporting the billet and strip steel. It is the important equipment which has the largest number and occupancies the largest area in hot rolling mill. C Furnace Charging Table is the main transporting table of hot rolling mill, the drive technology level of which has a direct effect on the productivity and cost of the hot rolling mill. Because of its good starting performance and rapid response property, the DC drive system which was extensively used in the past years was adapted in the C Furnace Charging Table formerly. However, the DC drive system has some inherent defects, such as the complexity in maintain and high Energy consumption, which makes it difficult to meet the needs of present automation system.As the rapid development of power electronic technology and control technology, the performance of Variable Frequency Speed Regulation system is able to match the DC drive system. Variable Frequency Speed Regulation technology is extensively adapted in the production of metallurgical industry because of its excellent speed regulating performance and the significant effect of energy saving. The former DC system can be replaced well by Variable Frequency Speed Regulation system based on PLC, which has advantages of energy saving, less maintenance work and better stability quality. The technology level of roller drive system is also heightened by the new system.Firstly, the production process of C Furnace Charging Table is introduced in this paper, and the existing problem of the former drive system of C Furnace Table is analyzed. At the same time, the Principle of Variable Frequency Speed Regulation technology is presented. The principles and properties of U/f Variable Frequency control and vector Variable Frequency control are analyzed and compared.Secondly, the drive style and operation control method of Variable Frequency Speed Regulation system are decided according to the alteration needs. The main circuit, Energy-consumed Braking circuit, and interface circuit of transducer are designed. The PLC control system is designed, and the flow diagram of the system is given.Finally, the simulation model of Variable Frequency Speed Regulation system for C Furnace Charging Table is built, and the simulation for starting process of the system is realized. The simulation waveforms of the motor speed, magnetic torque and stator current are analyzed. The simulation results demonstrated that Variable Frequency Speed Regulation system of C Furnace Charging Table has good starting performance.
