At present, data as an important and sharing resource, becomes the key and cornerstone of information construction. However, the majority departments design their own information systems independently and hardly communicate with other enterprises or departments, which made the resources and information isolated islands come into being. Among these isolated islands of information data models, there are name conflicts, data type conflicts and value conflicts, which make the data hard to share, the exchange and integration get very difficult. These questions block the informational construction severely. To solve the problems, the criterion of the data element analysis and designed method is made to eliminate the name conflicts, data type conflicts and value conflicts.This thesis researches the data element standardization theory thoroughly, traces the domestic and foreign scholarships of now and investigates the current application plane of the data model of petroleum exploration and development. From the viewpoint of the data sharing and the data integration, a kind of cluster analysis on the data models of the petroleum exploration and development is done to obtain the deficiencies of those models, and then we can summarize the questions of the data self standardization which should to be solved. According to the theory of the data element standardization and the successful application cases of the domestic and foreign data elements, a standardized model is proposed which fights against the deficiencies and problems existing in those models and suits the actuality of the data management of petroleum exploration and development.Depending on the research achievements and considering the data management actuality of petroleum exploration and development of the Daqing Oil Field, the data elements registry model and registered flow are proposed, and the management software for the data elements registry is designed and realized. Finally a metadata dictionary for data models of petroleum exploration and development comes into being, which can guide model design and redound to construct highly effective, stable and optimum data model and facilitates oil field information construction. The metadata dictionary has found application in Daqing Oil Field.
