OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) is a powerful decision support tool, which provides fast, interactive ad-hoc query from many prospects and facilitates the decision making. Foreign ISVs have provided their Data Warehouse/OLAP suit case, however there is no corresponding product in China. The research field is a hot area, the demand for data integration, data analyze and easy to use are becoming more ever than before. The paper focus on metadata and its application, designs and realizes a light-weighted OLAP Service System.A Unified Metadata management is introduced and put thought the whole OLAP system, utilizing the XML as the representation and exchange language. Concept Model Visualization, three layer modeling methodology, and their automatical mapping are presented. A fine granularity security access control based on the metadata is given.SEU_OLAP has a loosely-coulped architecture and provides an open interface for other tools to integrate in. The three layer OLAP modeling tools give users a unified and transparent prospect. The algorithm to making cross report is improved for a faster data processing. Smart client analyses tools and reporting tools is also present, which are base on the component technology, proving drill-down, roll-up and pivoting operations.
