The AS Layer System Design For WCDMA And GSM Dual Mode Mobile Terminal

As one of three 3G standards, WCDMA is one of the targets while the GSM/GPRS developing towards the 3G. Its technique industry chain covers various areas and the most important one is the mobile terminal equipment. The key techniques of the terminal equipment are mobile terminal core chip and protocol stack, both them are the important parameters that measure the terminal performance.According to its functions, the WCDMA terminal protocol stack can be divided into two parts: access stratum (AS) and non-access stratum (NAS). Most of the WCDMA NAS protocol standards are modified on the base of GSM/GPRS criteria, so they are not different from the others, but it changed a lot while comparing the WCDMA with GSM/GPRS on AS. Thus this thesis analyzes the terminal protocol stack in detail, especially focusing on the AS.
