The dependence of the WCDMAMIMO system performance on typical indoorsurround-ings is studied in this dissertation by using deterministic electromagnetic (EM)method and testing verification method. Five aspects of key technologies are involvedin the problem. These technologies are related to the EM definition and classification ofindoor surrounding, the analytical presentation of the electromagnetic complexbaseband signals and the electromagnetic channel modeling in the defined surround-ings based on the fundamental EM theory including geometrical optical and EM modespectrum method aided by the Hertzian vector potential basic concepts. The evaluationof the dependence of the system capacity on the defined surroundings parameters isinvestigated based our channel model. Our results are also verified by the publicliterature's measurements. A new method of the system interruption suppression namedWCDMA STOB transmitting+ MMSE beamforming is developed and the systemperformance improvement is shown by the system level simulation results. A novelWCDMA MIMO terminal antenna array is developed and the positive effect of themutual coupling between the antenna elements on the WCDMA STOB transmitting+MMSE beamforming system performance is obtained.
