Wireless Mesh Network is a multi-hop broad bandwidth distributing wireless network with high capacity and high transmission rate. It is a new type of wireless communication network and is capable of self-organization and multi-hop routing. Wireless Mesh Network is a special WLAN and is a kind of Ad hoc with low mobility. Nodes in wireless Mesh network could transfer data and for nodes'frequently moving, route is an important part in wireless Mesh network. The article studies the routing protocols in wireless Mesh network. The article firstly introduces the basic situation of wireless Mesh network, including the topology structure, the main feature, the application and the key technology in wireless Mesh network. Then, introduces the current two main route ways——Table_Drive and On_Demand, and analyzes the frequent routing protocols. The following content is AODV routing protocol with Hello messages, based on which a new routing protocol——IAODV is raised. Finally, does the simulation experiments and analyzes the simulation results. The traditional AODV routing protocol adapts Hello messages to obtain the connectivity information of two neighbor nodes. However, Hello messages'periodic broadcast occupies plenty of bandwidth and resources, significantly enhances the overhead of protocol. According to reciprocity theorem, when two nodes communicate, the controlling packets and the data packets they exchange provide the connectivity information. The improved routing protocol IAODV considers and makes full use of this point, reduces the quantity of Hello message. The simulation results indicate that, regardless of the nodes are stillness or moving, the performance of network which adapts IAODV compares favorably with the one which adapts traditional AODV: the protocol overhead, the packet dropped rate and the end to end delay of the former are all lower than the latter, the throughput of the former is higher than the latter.Route is an important technology of wireless Mesh network, the content of this article is only one aspect of routing. In order to improve the network's performance better, we should be dedicated to the research of routing protocols.
