Research And Design Of Distributed Network Management Based On XML-RPC

XML-RPC, namely XML-based Remote Procedure Call, defines the standardsand norms for long-distance communications using HTTP. It is simple and easy torealize, may be used to substitute other huge and complicated distributed computingmechanisms. In this paper, this technique is applied to network management, and theplanbasedontheXML-RPCdistributednetworkmanagementisdesigned.First, this paper analyzes the status and trends in network management. It thendiscusses the simple network management protocol and analyses its insufficiency;After discussing the merits of the distributed network management, the codingstandard and the realization of XML-based Remote Procedure Call are mainlyanalyzed; Next the system design and the module design of the distribution networkmanagement based on the XML-RPC are given, and network management serverbased on the XML-RPC and the network management customer based on theXML-RPC and communications between them are realized, the client uses the methodwhich is enveloped using XML, uses the HTTPtransmission to send out the request tothe network management server, the network management server then transfers themethod used to respond. Afterwards, they communicate with the agent through thegateway, and the results will be sent to the network management workstation in theoppositeorder.Finally,thetaskofthegatewaycommunicatingwiththeagentbasedonthe SNMP is analyzed and then the gateway for XML/SNMP transformation isdesigned.
