The Auto Monitor system is an important part of the information technology. Remote Terminate Unit(RTU) plays a very important role in the Auto Monitor system, which responses for the data gatherring, data storage, data transferring, etc. There are many styles of the data transferring of RTU, such as: wireless data transfer, the industry Ethernet network, Short Message Service in the GSM network, GPRS, etc. Today, the rapid development of the Internet technology has make our life change enormously, and make it possible to transfer data and receive the control command by the Internet. Now, most RTU that have the Internet network interface are highly cost—consuming and highly energy-consuming, which is not suit for the water information system gathering and control. Considering the TCP/IP protocol ,The paper designs a simple, low-cost RTU Internet interface. This paper succeeds in integrating the driver support of the Internet network interface chip-CS8900 at the MSP430 MCU, which make it possible to transfer the data to the Internet network by the Ethernet network.Firstly, the paper analysis the current usually-used styles of the data transferring, then consults the TCP/IP protocol technology, design a simply TCP/IP protocol stack in the MSP430, detailly discuss the ARP protocol, IP protocol, ICMP protocol, TCP protocol, TCP status machine, etc, which are the key technologies to realize the TCP/IP protocol stack. Basing on the technologies discussed above, discuss the designing and realization of the whole Auto Monitor system network interface technology. At the same time, considering the IPv4 address will be expire in the future, the system is being attempted to update from IPv4 protocol stack to the IPv6 protocol stack.Limited by experimental environment, though this system is designed for water conservancy, it does not gather actual water information. Despite of these, it still tests that using the RTU Internet interface to transfer water information is an available way of data transferring. This RTU with low-cost is a new breach in water conservancy.
