A universal machine condition monitoring system MFD320 is researched in this dissertation, which can be used to different kinds of monitored equipment without redesigning the software, improve the efficiency and reduce the cost and time in developing a new monitoring system.The design idea in designing the universal condition monitoring system is introduced firstly, the feasibility of realization and the problem needing to be solved is analyzed. The universal condition monitoring system is made up of up-level computer, low-level computer and local area network. Data sampling and storage are processed in the low-level computer system while the condition monitoring and fault analysis is realized in the up-level one. The high-speed communication between up- and low-level computer is achieved by the local area network with disk share or TCP/IP protocol.The universal sampling module is designed which can be used with two kinds of data acquisition hardware and triggered by the speed interval for startup/stop process or time interval specified by the user. A new data structure is also given in the paper to ensure high-speed information exchange between different modules in the software. With the application of the multi worker thread technology, the synchronization of data acquiring, data storage and data processing is guaranteed. Moreover, a new alarming method of frequency band energy is provided for monitoring the rotating machine effectively.Finally, the universal machine condition monitoring system developed in the paper is applied to turbine generator and vehicle condition monitoring. The results show that the system is fit the requirements of condition monitoring.
