Nowadays, the production of medical bottle has made great process in the fields such as production scale, production speed and product quality, which has also brought a challenge to traditional artificial inspection method. After all, it's incompetent to complete such a great job only by artificial examination. On the other hand, with the development of computer technology and image processing technology, the computer visual inspection technique has come into being.By using digital image processing, an inspection system for medical is studied in the dissertation.Firstly, the structure of the inspecting system was introduced. Aiming at the characteristic of medical bottle inspection, the dissertation discusses the project as a whole, the selection of acquisition equipment and designing of illumination apparatus. Initial system design objectives have been achieved.Secondly, the dissertation concerns on the application of image processing technology to the detection of defect in bottle inspection. After the conclusion of the traditional edge detection methods, several novel algorithms for the inspection of glass bottle bottom, mouth and body are put forward. Experiments have proved their efficiency and feasibility. During the development of techniques, OTSU algorithm based on given searching region is applied for orientation of medical bottle so that the processing can be advanced rapidly. Meanwhile, the grey-level segmentation is applied for extracting flaws from medical bottle.Finally, it elaborates glass bottle dimensions method by using sub-pixel positioning.
