The Design And Implementation Of North Bound Interface In Telecommunication Network Management Platform

As the rapid development of telecommunications industry and the enlarged telecommunications network scope, the issues of the variety of equipment types and ways to build networks, more and more complicated applications, ,and the multiple manufactures, become more and more serious. Now most of the telecommunications business owns a large network, Most of time every manufacturer has network management system to their own equipments. But these network management systems can't provide united interface and data target, so they make negative influence to concentration management of network.To the issues above, all the businesses hope to be able to build an Integrated Network Management System(short for INMS) and a Business Operation Support System(short for BOSS) on the basic of the scattered network management system to realize synthetically management of the whole network including centralized surveillance and control, analysis and optimization to master whole network's operation in time and control effective to improve business information management level and quality of service and operation results. So the factories are asked to provide united interface called north bound interface which faces higher level network management system in their peculiar network management systems.North Bound Interface is a passageway of data collection and transform which like intermediary between higher level network management system and lower level network management system. North Bound Interface can screen difference between network management subsystems and equipment and realize management to different factories and different types of network. It also can reduce complication of network management. So it makes higher level network management system manage network better, and it's more convenient for the united management of telecommunications network.In the company which I'm working in Shenzhen, every products system has their own Network Management System(short for NMS).A11 the NMS were developed on the bases of Network Base Management Platform(short for NBMP).As a base network management system development platform, NBMP has screened the difference between every operating systems and databases, realized basic function used among NMS(such as security management, fault management, performance management and system surveillance and control), finished the key calculation of network unit management. NBMP provides API interface for the second development for every business network management system's basic platform of company H.I take part in the whole development of the second edition of NBMP when I am doing my practice working. I'm in charge of analysis, design, realization and test of North Bound Interface. I have added and modified more than 20,000 lines of code, and I have finished north function integration of public management, development management, trouble management, performance management. All my quality targets have reached or surpassed the company's desired requirements. Now, the second edition of NBMP system has passed the test department's products released test successfully, and all NMS systems have begun to update and do development for new edition.In this thesis, I analyzed the situation of telecommunications network management and the background of North Bound Interface function's emergency, and described main functions of NBMP system briefly. I described some representative examples' detailed design, realization and test on base of CORBA.Key questions solved in this article:1. Realization methods to North Bound Interface of all the NMS cannot be united. There are differences to the definition and realization of North Bound Interface even using two NMS s of the same protocol. It is necessary to distinguish differences among all NMS s in processes of public function extraction, interface definition and realization, and to improve compatibility.2. The higher level access system which North Bound Interface faces is complicated, and there are many kinds of BOSS systems and subsystems, so North Bound Interface must meet the requirements of high standard. But now there isn't a mature and normal North Bound development standard, so it is likely to produce divergence in real develop process. It may add cost of linking up and lowering develops efficiency.3. North bound interface is a bridge of passing message between two levels network management. In real network environment one must face severe test with great number of data, so the processing speed may become bottleneck. Performance of the system is always very important, in the processes of system design, realization and test.
