Infrared image synthesis, due to its significant application potential in military affair, spaceflight, etc, has got much recognition and develops rapidly in many countries in the world in recent years. Combined the principles of Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, Infrared Physics and Heat Transfer, infrared image synthesis provides a realistic three-dimension visualization platform for military drilling. It helps drilling overcome the restrictions of time, geographical and environment variation. It also provides a new technology for designing, researching and testing thermal infrared weapons, which can be more efficient. In the same time, it saves much time and money. This paper presents a research on the efficient generation of infrared ground scene and the infrared imaging simulation of ground feigned targets on the base of our predecessors' research. In Chapter 1, we review the developing history of virtual simulation, summarize the relative work on infrared image synthesis and introduce our research works of this paper briefly.Efficient generation of large-scale IR ground scene is the key of real-time infrared imaging simulation. Chapter 2 mainly discusses a new technology to generate IR ground scene. First, we establish an infrared thermal database of typical material in scene, use interactive means to pick out area in aerial photography or remote sensing visible-light ground images. At last, we acquire the distribution of temperature field under different meteorological conditions and at different intervals, then infrared images, via process of thermal physics. We raise a technique, based on approximate of pixel space in RGB, which assign mixed property of material for areas that haven't been ascribed. To improve designing efficiency and validation of infrared imaging of feigned targets in military camouflage equipment, in Chapter 3, we describe a way to model and render pseudo targets in infrared imaging simulation. First, we introduce model features of infrared physics, and raise a thermal physics model based on internal plane heat source to compute surface temperature. We implement it by a step-by step iterative, and optimize it to gain a better performance. It is more close to the reality, compared with internal point heat source. In Chapter 4, the author sums up the research work described in this paper and prospects the future research work.
