Infrared scene simulation technology can generate the infrared images of target andbackground realistically under all kinds of complicated environment and the interferencecondition, provide surroundings and data for designing, analyzing scenario, and testingproducts, and shorten the period of developing related products and cutting down theexperimental cost, etc.. Foreign countries have strict restrictions on exports of suchsoftware and technology, but there are strong domestic demands in our country. Therefore,the key technologies and algorithm optimization of three-dimension infrared scenesimulation system have been studied in this paper, and the elementary infrared scenesimulation software is developed. The main works of the paper are as follows:(1)An infrared lighting model based on the visible reflection model of Blinn-Phong isimproved on the basis of predicting thermal physics characteristics for scene due to theproblem of the infrared lighting model in the current infrared scene simulation model. Themodel considers the transfer relationship of the radiation energy fully between surface andvarious kinds of radiation sources, and then computes the radiation intensity of the object.In the simulation of the scene infrared highlights, a compute method of the radiation energyis proposed on the basis of the scenery geometric characteristics so as to obtain the radiantexitance of the point, and the method can descript the dynamic process of the scenehighlights region along with the change of the viewpoint.(2)For the problem of lacking a valid method for the infrared texture simulation of thelarge-scale background in the three-dimension infrared scene simulation, a method ofgenerating infrared image texture is presented based on the visible light image. On the basisof simplifying the three-dimension heat conduction problem of the scene toone-dimensional heat conduction process, the heat balance equation of the scenery surfaceis established to solve the temperature at different times in a day. Simultaneously, based onthe visible light image of the corresponding scenery, the gray distribution relation of theinfrared image is determined on the basis of the infrared image temperature distributionrange of the same scene. Then the gray information of the corresponding scenery temperature distribution deviation is superposed to the corresponding scenery from theregion to another one so that the infrared image texture is constructed.(3)Based on the image pyramid degradation principle, a new infrared image texturegeneration model based on the space frequency change of the scene has been proposed.According to the Nyquist frequency limited by the detector of image system, the filtering isacted on the scenery texture image of zero sight distance based on the paramer of the sceneimaging distance, which is referred to the scene space frequency change; the highfrequency attenuation is carried out to the zero sight scene texture. At the same time, thegray regeneration is done by the minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD) ofthe thermal imaging system in order to simulate the infrared image texture of thecorresponding scene.(4)Database lookup table is researched to be as the simulation data recognizationmethod of the infrared scene. Data source of infrared scene is provide conveniently byquerying all kinds of the information in the database, which includes the geometry data,thermal physical characteristic data, optical characteristic data, and so on of the scene. Thedatabase can storage the calculated intermediate result after the scene parameters’ changing,and can avoid the double computing when the scene is simulated again.The three-dimension infrared scene simulation software is developed based on the keytechnologies of infrared scene simulation. The elementary imaging simulation is carried out,and some conditions are created for the further research work.
