Although the output power of microwave power transistor shows the continuous improved trend in several years, the output power of single transistor is limited after all. It couldn't be satisfied with the request of the whole equipment in some applications. For getting the higher output power than the one of single transistor, it imminently needed to develop a method for power combining. In this article the author tried to interpret the common design theory, thoughts and methods of microwave power divider/combiner, and investigated the technology of power combining based on the theory, and designed a power combiner with the advantages of low insertion loss, wide band and compact structure, etc.The article was divided into six chapters. The first chapter gave the outlines about the current request and state of microwave power divider/combiner and its probable progress in the foreseeable future. The second chapter discussed the basic theory of power amplifiers and broadband amplifiers, included the concept of S-parameter. The third chapter discussed the common design theory, thought and methods of all kinds of microwave power divider/combiner, and in chapter four the theory of balanced amplifier was introduced .The state of monolithic microwave integrated circuit was given in chapter five. And the circuit simulation, design and measurement were finished in the last chapter.
