The output power of millimeter wave transmission system is very important to theanti-jamming capabilities, communications quality and the radar range. The powercombination technique can increase the output power effectively. In this paper, 8mm waveband power amplifier and power combination technique are researched deeply. Thedetailed work includes:1,The basic theory of Ka-band power amplifier is researched, and four structures usedoften in millimeter wave (Wilkinson divider, rat-race hybrid, directional couplers andLange coupler) are well analyzed.2,Two of above-mentioned four circuit structures are simulated, optimized respectivelyby ADS and compared.3,The single MMIC power amplifier is made successfully using RMDA20420. In theworking band, the gain is more than 20dB, which is accorded with the design request.Then the actual 2-way Ka-band power combination amplifier is made. The gain isabout 20dB in the working band and the saturation output power is about 21 dBm.
