Design And Implementation Of Hardware And Software Of Inkjet Plotter Central Controller Based On ETX Module

The research of this project comes from key projects in scientific research of the Tenth "Five-Year Plan" <>. Spray-paint Graph Plotter Central Controller System is an important composing of the project, and its performance will affect ultimately the speed of graph plotter. On the base of an analysis of ETX V2.6 Specification and PCI V2.2 protocol, a further study has been made of embedded module ETX (Embedded Technology extended) made by Kontron Company and the chip PCI9054 made by PLX Company that is used for bus interface. To meet the demand of the actual condition, a spray-paint graph plotter central controller system based on ETX module, with the function of high-speed data transfer and the bridged chip PCI9054, has been designed. Standard interfaces of ETX module and PCI Target Write especially DMA functions are realized. And we will expatiate all the design from the two aspects of hardware system design and software program design.Hardware system design is the emphases in this of design. And it should fulfill functions of ETX module interface expansion, ETX module PCI device expansion, LOCAL bus logic control, data receiving, simple data processing, and operation on FIFO and interface for graph plotter. The design scheme and design thinking will be given firstly in the paper, and then details of all modules realization will also be presented. At last, we will discuss the all function modules programmed by VHDL language. Their simulation wave diagram under MAXPLUS II will be presented and the VHDL program will be downloaded to CPLD chips.The software programming is mainly the application program design. We will expatiate it in two modes. In the first mode, test program is designed in Target mode; And in the second mode, designed in DMA mode. At last, the print picture of Spray-paint Graph Plotter is given in DMA mode in this paper.
