At present, the cores of most LED displays are made of 8 bit or pseudo 16 bit micro controllers, which have great limitation in data processing speed, memory capacity and space, and communication method etc. It is very difficult for LED display to realize very complicated texture and graphic stunt displaying, and gray-grade image displaying. In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the author has adopted one of advanced embedded technology and CPLD technology, and mainly accomplished the research content as followings:1. Study the configuration and working principles of LED display system with large screen, and analyze the main disadvantages of the traditional LED display system.2. Accomplish the whole design of large screen LED dispay system with 32-bit ARM microprocessors, choose the appropriate type of the main chips used in this system and analyze the structure and the operation method of the chips.3. Introduce the operation system of μC/OS-II RTOS embedded the TCP/IP protocol source code for supporting equipments embedded in the network. This kind of the methods has become an important research direction for the bedded system.4. Design the power circuit, crystal-vibration circuit and the reset circuit based on ARM microprocessor system. And complete the expansion design of the system based on S3C4510B. The design content includes mainly the interface circuits of the memorizers, series and JTAG in the system based on the S3C4510B. Moreover, the author designs the interface circuit of 10M/100M Ethernet to provide the gateways of the Ethernet.5. Embed the operation system μC/OS-II RTOS into the ARM microprocessor, and put forward the possible problems in the replanting process.6. Discuss CPLD and VHDL. CPLD devices have one of good logic and timing functions, and are selected for the controllers of LED. By means of VHDL, the author develops the timing function of LED display board and therefore the gray-grade image displaying for LED can be controlled.
