The radar echo simulator is mainly used to generate echoes of targets, clutter and noise of system, test the performances of system and train the radar operators.Firstly, the theories of radar echo signals and the simulative methods for coherent video signal are discussed. And echo signals are simulated by Mapping methods. And categorize the targets into two kinds, point targets and extended targets, according to the environments in which the radar works.Secondly, both the targets and clutter are modeled and simulated. Furthermore analyze the characteristics of echo and clutter whichever transfer channel such as scattering transfer.Lastly, the real-time simulations in some research radar project during each echo period are applied to both the fixed and moving targets as well as clutter by using the C++ language based on embedded-Vxworks. In these simulations, performances of the fixed and moving targets/clutter, such as scattering characteristics and moving curves provided with moving targets, are also illustrated for comparison conveniently. Moreover, the proposed echo simulator can process simultaneously even 31 fixed or moving targets and 15 ground or weather clutter.
