As the development of the computer technology, the embedded system is becoming more and more important in both production and in people's daily life since the PC era.. The ARM-based embedded Linux system has attracted people's attention because of its powerful functions. Nowdays, the embedded Linux system has been used widely in many fields such as consumer electronics, industrial control and so forth.In this thesis, taking the comparatively matured ARM system architecture as the hardware platform, we design the Video Capture System based on the Linux platform for solving some problems involved in video-frequency collection. Our main work in the thesis is the selection of some kinds of hardware and the reduction, the compiling and the transplant of the BootLoader, the Linux operating system and the YAFFS root file system. By virtue of the main work we have done in the thesis and by using the qte language calling of the V4l function, in the environment of the qtopia desktop, we successfully use the video-frequency we have collected in some other fields.In the thesis, we study mainly on the problem of how to transform Linux onto the ARM9 development board and at the same time, we implore the Video Capture System. Moreover, we analyze deeply the structure of the embedded application system, the major tasks of the Linux in the process of the transplantation in the ARM platform and problems involved in the process. Based on the analysis of the structure of the s3c2410 architecture, we show the whole process of the transplant and establishment of BootLoader, Linux and YAFFS root file system. In the thesis, we also explain in detail the whole realization process of the applied video-frequency program compiled based on Linux in the environment of the Qtopia desktop. The program is compiled in qte language and as a result, the traditional GUI deficiency has been overcome and thus making the studied system to have the advantage of thebetter graphical user interface, easy operation, convenience of the transplantation etc.The video-frequency collection system implored based on the embedded Linux platform in this thesis has been verified in the laboratory to be of the virtues such as the stability, the reliability and less consumption of the resources and now it has been put into use. From the feedbacks of the users, we see the system implored in this thesis is of certain value and a convenient system in establishing the develop platform of the embedded Linux.
