Research And Development Of Software And Hardware For 3G Wireless Terminal's Processor System Based On OMAP

With the development of the wireless broadband technique and the digital signal processing, there would be a great 3G prosperity in future. 3G is referred to the 3rd Generation Mobile Telecommunication technology. In the 3G time, mobile users can be constantly attached to the Internet as they like and are provided with high quality multimedia services, such as text, digitized voice and video. Multimedia services is the key point of 3G technology. 3G terminals are developing with a high speed and have a great future .We build a 3G wireless terminal multimedia processing platform using OMAP5910. OMAP5910 is a highly integrated hardware and software platform, combines high performance processing with long battery life feature. The dual-core architecture provides benefits of both DSP and RISC technologies, incorporating a TMS320C55x DSP core and a high-performance TI925T ARM core . OMAP5910 provides rich user interfaces, MMC interface, LCD interface, Camera interface, USB interface and so on; professor's serial interfaces, such as UART, McBSP and MCSI, support all most all the popular interface standard of wire and wireless.During"the research of 3G wireless terminal processing platform", I'm responsible for the hardware design and debug, software system building and application program design. Hardware task: Designing and testing hardware system, Controlling peripherals correctly, CMOS, touch screen, audio codec, keypad and so on. Software task: Running the embedded Linux system on this platform; Developing and realizing some drivers; Developing application program in the environment Microwindows GUI; Replanting and optimizing real time MP3 decoder on the DSP system of OMAP5910. Now, this processing platform has finished multimedia function as following: picture capture, MPEG-4 codec and decoder, MP3 decoder and playing.
