In this dissertation, ALM technology and P2P network models are deeply studied and an adaptive network model which supports ALM and P2P is proposed. The adaptive model is composed of small-size multicast trees and P2P domains which is the set of marginal nodes connected with multicast tree. Firstly, stream-media in the server are broadcasted to the managing nodes (and spare managing nodes) in a P2P autonomous domain through small-size multicast trees. Then the managing nodes act as the domain's temporal media server and P2P server to provide service for nodes in the domain. The adaptive model accords with the inbeing of the existing network, which is made up of wide area networks with the feature of low bandwidth and long delay and local area networks with the feature of high bandwidth and short delay. In addition, the model makes full use of the advantages of ALM and P2P and discards their disadvantages.Moreover, we implement the scheme of the adaptive IPTV system based on P2P and ALM. The emphasis is to explore the realization of the adaptive IPTV system in the server and end users. It is proven that the adaptive model can improve the performance of IPTV system effectively and has a wide and prosperous future in application by the real application.
