Research Of IPTV Set-top Box Media Player Based On Embedded Linux

With the rapid development of Internet technology and multimedia technology, IPTV has a dual advantage of traditional digital TV and modern interactive IP technology, provides VOD, web browsing and other interactive services through the IP network to the family user. Therefore, it receives the market to pursue hold and has a broad market prospect and promotion value.This thesis takes the Putian Corporation IPTV set-top box project as a background. It satisfies the ever-changing streaming media business and third party value-added services. The design has realized an IPTV set-top box media player based on embedded Linux. Media player is an essential software module in the STB, mainly palys the A/V of the streaming media and other application service, which supports MPEG-2 TS transmission, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, WMV, MP3, AC3, AAC and other A/V code standard. It has a good portability and scalability to meet the changing needs of the market.The thesis first introduced IPTV's concept, the function and the software and hardware structure of the STB. Introduced the streaming media technology and related protocol (RTP/RTCP/RTSP) with emphasis and so on. To meet the IPTV media service's demand, analyzed and achieved the RTSP client, TS demultiplexer, backward/forward, video display and other inportant technologies.Finally, the test results of the media player's functionality and performance show that it runs stably and reliably. It has achieved the anticipative design target. It have a summary at the last part of the paper, the summary pointed out that the main research achievement and the deficiencies need to improve at the next step.
