The development of motion control systems is not an easy work because of its complexity. The control algorithm researchers can not focus on the algorithms themselves but have to implement every detail of the motion control system. Using a proper motion control development platform will improve the research efficiency.This kind of platform overseas is expensive and difficult to use for native users. And native platforms do not have enough functions to support the users. This subject designs an intact development platform for motion control system with the DSP chip of TMS320LF2407A which is widely used as motor control processor. This platform provides hardware and software environments, which give a quick way to implement motion control systems or verify control algorithms. Also, it could be used as a useful tool for the new learners of DSP motion control.The hardware of the platform includes one main board and two driver boards with different power levels. Both of the driver boards can drive AC asynchronous motor, permanent magnet motor and brushless DC motor.The software kit includes three programs. The DSP monitor program provides command line user interface through which the user can load DSP program in RAM or FLASH or perform simple debugging functions.The DSP peripherals testing software provides graphical interface to familiarize the DSP users with these peripherals rapidly.The development and debug software for motion control systems has the basic functions of editing, compiling and linking the source files as well as loading and debugging the executive programs. Moreover, this software provides many features that favor the development of motion control systems. These features include reference generator setting, controller parameter setting, run-time data acquisition and waveform display.Furthermore, in this paper, a rotor field oriented vector control method is implemented based on this platform and the waveforms are brought forth.The main feature of this platform is that the extra hardware emulator is not necessary. All the communication between PC and DSP is done through RS-232 interface, which reduce the cost of the platform. The disadvantage is that a core routine needs to be written into the DSP FLASH, which consumes some of the DSP resources.
