The inspection technology is one of the basic technologies of the modern manu- facture. With the rapid development of the modern manufacture, many traditional inspection methods aren't satisfied with the modern automation industry in many occasions. Vision inspection technology, depending on its high-performance, such as non-contact, high-precision, high-efficiency and anti-jamming, gets a great chance to develop itself in the measuring field.With the quick rhythm of the modern manufacture, the extension of the inspection area, the increasing amounts of the tested points, vision inspection also faces great challenges and needs to improve itself now. To adapt to the new working conditions, the conception of the real-time, distributed, meshwork of inspection system is hatched. An advanced inspection system is usually composed of image capture, data processing, and data transmission sub-systems. This paper just focuses on the image capturing sub-system. The main tasks of this paper are below:1, According to the request of the working conditions, base on the former study, a project of the advanced distributed inspection experimental system is set up.2, According to the functions of the acquisition sub-system of the vision inspection system, designing the structure and working principle of the camera system. Specially on image acquisition, storage and transmission units. After comparing CMOS with CCD for their own structures and performances detailedly, choosing CMOS digital image sensor as the acquisition unit.3, Based on the principle of the camera system, utilizing CPLD to implement the RAM interface management circuit modules. Having done the function simulation for all the modules and gotten the expected results. And designing PIC micro-controller software, including OV9653 initialization, image data transmission and interrupt software module.4, According to the principle of the designed camera system, designing a experimental PCB. Utilizing RS422 series interface to transmit the image data to the computer successfully, and then displaying the image in the display. The feasibility of the camera system are ensured.
