Computer supported cooperative design (CSCD), regarded by academia and enterprises recently, is a inevitability result as the development of CAD. This paper based on the Introduction of research status and main questions of cooperative design gives one model for theory of cooperative design system bases of product configuration management,analyses its constitution and pacing technology, The following parts are emphases: product configuration management, cooperative communication and sharing interface. product design is combined with product configuration management, It not only offers effective support for product management, but also for improvement of the cooperative design efficience.It studies and discusses its own methods of shortening of design period, improvement of quality and efficiency.The followings are the main contents and results of this paper:1.It discusses basic questions for collaboration design, such as,research status and leves, correlation technology,main questions and development direction.2.It gives one massing framework of cooperative design system bases of product configuration management. And it analyses function module and approaches fulfill method, pacing technology and theory basement of some important constitute parts.3.Making a summary on concepts and some definitions of product configuration management. And the documents and drawings generated in design process are managed well with product configuration management concepts, they can be exchanged efficiently. Interface sharing techniques are studied and AutoVue techniques are used to complete mode viewing and mark_up.4.The paper analyses the category of cooperative communication, introduces cooperative communication constitution and pacing technology of module. Point-to-point communication techniques are studied and implemented by TCP Socket to support collaborative design in networking environment.Then it expounses the necessary and principle of sharing interface technology, gives approaches fulfill method and pacing technology of sharing interface. In one example, we add RTX to the system and give the method of cooperative design used RTX to complete cooperative communion.The paper introduces the system of cooperative design based on product configuration management produced by the author, gives an application example.
