In recent years LED display screen has been developed very quickly. This paper introduces a new scheme of LED display system, and applies ARM and CPLD in the field of the system, in order to improve the effect and solve difficulty of the large display area and the display switched frequently.Firstly, the paper introduces the operating principle of LED display screen and puts forward originally structure composition. Secondly, the paper explains the hardware and software design process of LED display system. ARM is 32 bits RISC processor. It is responsible for receiving instruction and analyzing it. ARM software includes the start code which is using assembly language and display effects which is using C language. CPLD is responsible for scaning and driving circuit of LED display. It can also read and write memory, create the gray and the address of reading data, and control display screen brightness. Finally, feasibility and correctness of scheme are verified by simulating. The display system realizes the dynamic display of letters and pictures. In a word, it's LED color screen display system which is worthy of real application.
