Information grid is a system using the Grid technologies to achieve the sharing, managing of information resources and to provide information services. There is not a uniform method and benchmark to evaluate the information grid. But in general the performance of the information grid can be evaluated in two sides: the full life cycle productivity is used in the analysis of the dynamic open characteristic of the grid, the other is to evaluate if the information grid can meet the basic requirement of the users. Different users make different performance demands to the information grid. The thesis studies the method of evaluating the information grid based on the response time, which is concerned by most users. The performance of the system is analyzed and improved. The contribution of the thesis can be concluded into the following aspects.After analyzing deeply the implementation of the information grid a method to simulate the course of dealing the request is provided. JMeter is used to simulate the clients. The evaluation is achieved at low cost.The during time from sending the request to receiving the response by users is divided into shorter stages. The time to every stage is tested in the thesis. Comparing the response time between the stages under different conditions, the bottleneck of the performance of the information grid is found.According to the bottleneck founded, the performance of accessing the physical resources is compared under different conditions. And the performance of the Vega grid based on the response time is improved by improving the performance of accessing the physical resources.
