Multiple instances activity is an activity which has multiple participates. Every participant will join to one of instances of this activity. The business processes presented by multiple instances activity is very common in reality, such as vote process, auditing process and so on.Multiple instances activity hasn't been realized in the commercial WfMS, whereas it was put forth several years ago. Some characters of the multiple instances activity result in that situation as well as the lack of the theory on the WfMS.Supporting multiple instances activity is very flexible. At the same time, this flexibility also induces the difficulty of the modeling and the schedule of multiple instances. As a rerult, a well mechanism should be put forward to take control of it.First, this paper classifies and explains the multiple instances activity on the basis of others'research. The next part differentiates the multiple instances activity from the traditional activity, and discusses the difference between them. After that, the modeling method of multiple instances activity is discussed and an example is presented to show how to extend the AOV-net to model the multiple instances activity. And then, the group trigger method is put forth and an algorithm framework for it is designed. In this method, the part that manages the routing of the activities will be separated from the workflow engine module which is the kernel module of the WfMC workflow reference model. Besides that, a map table is also used to solve the mapping problem from'business process reality'to'workflow routing'.In the end, two realistic presentations will be given to represent the algorithm framework of multiple instances activity.
