Today, the Sematic Web has become a hotspot in Web research area, and it is not a separate Web but an extension of the current one, in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. The information is represented in structural form, in which the semantic is describled by ontologies. An ontology is a formal, explicit specification of a shared conceptualisation. Because the creator and modelling method may be different, we must come to an agreement in order to implementing information sharing, and that is to say, building map between ontologies. After introducing web research condition, the paper talks about semantic web related technologies, including the concept of ontology, the classification of ontology, the description language of ontology and the formal foundation. Then we classify the mapping methods, and introduce similarity computing methods in several mapping projects or mapping process, and implementing the ontology mapping in OWL DL elementarily. In order to improve efficiency, we first choose the entities with closest label to construct the mapping space, then we propagate the mapping pair with higher similarity, namely compose mapping pair in entities related with them and add to mapping space. The mapping pair's similarity is computed in entity level, semantic net level and description logic level. In entity level, the result is initialized in Edit Distance or WordNet method, and the result can be refined in heuristic rules later. The rules are based on the features which are extracted from the ontology. In order to reflect the similarity in different level, we choose different weights for different rules to combine the result with the help of ontology experts. We consider mapping pair with enough large similarity as good mapping. In the process, we find that the explicit mapping reuse has positive influence on the accuracy, and can reduce the number of candidate...
