The WCDMA will put into use in china, network management system, to be a most important system to insure the WCDMA network run exactly, is under development. WCDMA network management system can be divided into two layers, the bottom one is Operation and Maintenance Center, it alternates with Network Element directly, OMC is responsible for NE data collection and the execution of NE maintenance command; the top layer is integrated Network Management Center, it is responsible for the procession of data which is collected by OMC for system maintenance persons, help them to programming network, maintain network, performance evaluation, making decision and optimization analyze. In WCDMA network system, the network equipments are provided by different manufacturers, every manufacturer will develop OMC and interfaces OMCs provide to NMC are different. It brings some difficulties in NMC building, in order to solve this problem, 3GPP defines the North Bound Interface in the TS32 series standard, it translates the NMC-OMC interface into a standard form, so one NMC can manage many different OMCs.First, the paper describes the basic concept: WCDMA and Network Management System and CORBA, Then the concept of network management interface, the concept and position of the Itf-N.Second, adopt the UTRAD method defined by ITU-T to define the NMC-OMC Itf-N, which divide the interface definition into three periods: function requirement analyze, interface analyze and interface design. Follow this method, the paper analyzes the business requirement, then do particular requirement and interface analysis taking the performance module as example. Based on these work, the paper take the performance module as example to describe the realization of Itf-N. Last, the paper introduces the test work of Itf-N, to validate that the project is feasible and high efficiency.
