Study Of Soft Handover In WCDMA System And Realization Of Utran Side RRC Signaling Layer For WCDMA System

As one of the crucial technologies for seamless communication in CDMA system, soft handover has been absorbed more and more investigations. When to carry on soft handover, which soft handover algorithm to be chosen and what the performances of soft handover are the kernel questions of the soft handover. WCDMA is one of the mainstream standards of the 3G cellular communication systems, the research and development of soft handover algorithm in WCDMA system is an important issue.Firstly, several common soft handover algorithms are discussed in the paper. The characters of these soft handover algorithms are analyzed under the same exterior conditions. Simulation results are provided according to the model of WCDMA systems and a few instructive conclusions concerning the practicality are drawn.Subsequently, on the basis of the common soft handover algorithms, we discuss one improved soft handover algorithm--Position Assistant soft handover algorithm, analyze the improve reasons and improved performance.After having discussed the algorithms of soft handover, we analyze the performances of soft handover gain, cell interference, cell coverage and the cell capacity under the soft handover circumstance under different simulation scenarios.While we will never use only one of the RRM techniques separately, so we discuss the combination of different RRM techniques, such as, with power control technique, with admission control technique, and so on.In order to assist the research and development of WCDMA base station signaling software in South-East University National Mobile Communication Research Laboratory, I participate in the project of the development of signaling software of WCDMA base station. In the last part of this paper, I introduce the contents of RRC layer protocol and the design of RRC layer signaling is specified. Finally, the procedure of realization and its result are presented.
