In this paper, the author describes his main jobs in the study course of his doctor's degree. These jobs can be divided into two parts. One is the achievements about the 3G WCDMA system's radio resource management (RRM) and the qualities of services (QoS) issues, which include the QoS framework and the RRM mechanism of the 3G WCDMA system, the mathematical basis of RRM, the improvements of the RRM algorithms for the applications of 3G WCDMA engineering, the study of the protocol model and communication regulations. Another part is from the author's research works in the project of the China 3G system exploitation (C3G). These works are mainly about the realization of the 3G WCDMA BS's transceiver (BTS), including the investigation of BTS realization structure, the project scheme of the BTS's control unit and the BTS's baseband processing unit. The author's representative jobs in this part is presenting the realization scheme of the WCDMA BTS control unit based on MPC8260 communication processor and the scheme of WCDMA BTS downlink DPCHs baseband unit using a three stages forward pipeline. The main constructure of this paper is:Chapter 1 presents the general description on the infrastructure of 3G WCDMA system's qualities of services (QoS) and the classifying of the QoS characteristic requirements, particularly accounting the RRM functional model and RRM implementing mechanism.Chapter 2 demonstrats the dynamic power allocation equation in UTRA FDD mode, which is regarded as the mathematical basis of 3G WCDMA RRM analysis.Chapter 3, refering to some related research reports, gives the defmation, description and some simulation results of RRM strategies and algorithms for the applications of 3G WCDMA engineering and do some corrections and improvements to some formulas and algorithms.Chapter 4 briefly generalizes the protocal constructure and communication regulations of UTRAN, investigates the important information elements about the radio bearer's defination, explores three representative regulations of UTRAN RRC.Chapter 5 discusses the realization structure and functions distributing of 3G WCDMA BTS, presents an engineering scheme of WCDMA BTS control unit and accounts the processing abilities requirements of a BTS control unit design of a WCDMA BTS's scheme with 6 sectors coverage.Chapter 6, through detailed analysis on the WCDMA BTS downlink DCH baseband process and the key elements in this course based on the relative protocols of 3GPP, a design object is presented for 16 downlink DCHs baseband process module. Then a three stages forward pipeline scheme is posed and its realization diagram is given for this presented design object.
