Parametric curve and curved surface become more and more important in computer graphics application,and they can be used in 3D modeling.How to make the graphics look like real objects with certain precision,yet have a high running speed is a highlighted problem in recent years,this paper devotes to present a method with these characters in height fields appplication.In this paper,a systemic method using central difference technology is presented to tessellate height fields and gennerate view-dependent multiresolution models.Related aspects such as quadtree height fields storage,crack fixing and methods in favor of improving effiency and reality are also discussed.In addition to it,through data pre-processing,this method also adapts to data sampled in practice modeling.Comparing to previous methods, the method presented in this paper provides good flexibility in various applications.It works well in realtime display application while has good visual quality.
