As a prevailing international standard architecture of telecommunications network, Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) has been widely been adopted by more and more network management system. The technical specifications, interface specifications and management specification set by TMN provide the blueprint and basis for the development of network management system.As an important management function of the telecommunication management network, the fault management function can report the operation conditions of the total network on a real-time basis through the monitoring over the equipment in the network. For the abnormal conditions in the network, the fault management function can provide the detailed information about abnormal conditions and the corresponding solutions. In other words, the outstanding fault management system with user-friendly interface is an integral part of the telecommunication network management system.In the existing telecommunication network, there are various types of network elements and diversified network management system. Such circumstance will offer no convenience for the management and maintenance of the system. According to the object-oriented software design idea, this thesis puts forward and realizes a truly TMN-based fault management system on the unified network management platform of ZTE Corporation, which can accommodate different types of network element devices. This sitemap adopts J2EE architecture to summarize the common features of the various network element devices, and taking into account the specific needs of the devices, form a highly expandable fault management framework. In the specific application, the whole functions of fault management can be realized only by the development of the specific required parts of the devices.
