The origin of this project comes form the personal computer exhibition of Guangdong Science Centre. The main task for this project is to design a video conference system, and gives ultimate realization. According to system requirements, propose a feasible solution.This paper introduce the way to design a video conference system, using Multicast to transport streams on LAN and using DirectShow to realize the Multimedia programming. The system presented in the paper adopts MPEG-4 to compress the video stream and uses G.729 to compress the audio stream. Meanwhile, this system introduces a video control server to schedule connections of multimedia data into a network and control the access of the multimedia data,which can guarantee this system would work well and network congestion would not happen due to unlimited increasing connections of video data into the network.The overall system is mainly used architecture on the basis of the analysis, the surface of the user's control module to conduct real-time operation of the collection, the standby module to display animation platform, to attract visitors. In the section of system testing, we discussed the testing methods about the reliability of the hardware and software part of the system.From the creation of systems theory, to the system works in the practical application, we have lived through the development of the whole system hardware and software, which make us more in-depth understanding of the concept of video conference system.
