Ranging techniques of pulsed semiconductor laser are mainly introduced in the paper. Without using non-cooperative objects, the measurement of distance can be from several meters to several kilometers and the precision of measurement could be reach ±0. 5 meters. By improving the precision times of TOF, we can improve the precision of ranging distance evidently.In this paper, we theoretically discuss the primary possibilities of measurement error and the main factors related to the precision of TOF in semiconductor laser ranging. And several important methods for improving ranging precision are also offered here.Pulsed semiconductor laser ranging system mainly consists of laser emitter, laser receiver and time measurement cell. In order to improving the ranging precision of single-pulse laser, it requires that the laser emitting pulse with narrow pulse width, high energy, fast converting velocity of measurement pulse and wide bandwidth of receiver.In the laser emitter system, we use specific laser diode and high-powered driver chip to generate high quality pulse for ranging signal.In the laser receiver system, we use low noise APD and high-bandwidth...
