In the automated garage or the customs container handling engineering application, it is often wanted to detect the relative position as well as relevant regional monitoring. In the monitoring process, in order to prevent people or other foreign material into the monitoring area, the requirements for boundary detective, intensive data of distance collection is urgent to prevent accidents. Laser range finding systems have been widely used in automatic three-dimensional garage for its fast measurement, small size, less susceptible to electromagnetic interrupt and so on. Therefore, the design of the laser range finder with a fast detective and monitoring of regional location is particularly important.A high-speed scanning laser range finder system is discussed in the paper. In order to meet the application requirements, after the analysis of the various principles of laser range finder as well as their respective strengths and weakness, the appropriate method is given, and the overall structure of the system is designed according the ranging process. Then the factors of accuracy and the requirements of the emission module are analyzed. A specific laser diode with integrated MOSFET and capacitor and a dedicated driver chip are used in the system to output high-quality laser pulse as the ranging signal. A low-noise PIN photodiode as a media converter part is used in the optical receiver unit. In the time interval measurement, we analyze the sources of the errors, then a several method of reducing the errors in the time interval measurement is given. Considered the system application requirements, the Field-Programmable-Gate-Array and digital interpolation method are used to realize monolithic integration and reduce the circuit and power consumption, which enhance anti-jamming capacity effectively.After the overall work process and circuit design are completed, each module circuit including time interval measurement module is simulated to test their performance, finally we test the system as a whole through analyzing the result data. Some deficiencies are also found in this existing technology and some further improvements are also proposed in the paper.
