In recent years, the measurement of shaft angle is one of the most prevalent requirements in the modern motion control systems, such as AC servo system, numerical control of machine tools, Robotics technology and so on. Synchro and Resolver are the two most widely used shaft angle transducers in these systems. With the development of the digital signal processing technology, the motion control systems have been digitalized. The requirements for high accuracy velocity and digital position feedback play an important role in these systems. As the interface of transducer and digital signal process system, Synchro/Resolver to digital converter can provide high accuracy digital angle signal and digital or analog velocity signal according to the frequency and velocity of transducer. Since its small size, low-cost monolithic and high performance, Synchro/Resolver to digital converter has been widely used in variety of systems. The converter was discussed in this paper, which converted the input angle signals into a parallel natural binary digital word using a ratiometric tracking conversion method. The technology of ratiometric tracking ensured high noise immunity. The converter allows users to select the resolution to be 10, 12, 14 or 16 bits and to track resolver signals rotating at up to 1040 revs per second when set to 10 bit resolution. By selecting external circuit values the user can determine dynamic performance such as bandwidth, maximum tracking rate of the converter to match different requirements of different systems.Main work of this paper includes:...
