"Science is the fundamental factor of development." In recently years, mobile communication and mobile market is developing with an amazing speed. The number of mobile users has exceeded 200 million in China. With the expanding of its application fields, mobile data service will play a more and more important role in all mobile communication service.The study object of this article is the terminal technology of GSM/GPRS data communication. The aimed application is the wireless data transmission in the industry field.The major works and contributors of this paper are as follows.Based on detailed research on the Windows PPP dial-up progress, the author propose an modification suggestion on this progress, which has been proven can be used to shorten the time cost on the GPRS dial-up progress.This paper provides the GSM/GPRS data terminal solution with the core technology of wireless modules. The author carefully studies the hardware and software features of Siemens wireless modules, and compares these features with other brand modules'.This article builds up two data communication platforms: one is by Siemens MC388 WM and Epson S1C33209 MCU, which is a two MCU solution. The other platform is with Siemens TC45 WM, which is a single MCU solution. As to the first platform, the author originates an ICMP plus handshaking structure to work as the data communication specification, which provides a practical specification for the unsophisticated industry user. As to the second platform, the author works with J2ME as the software development tool, which has the following advantages. 1. Java is a programming language independent on the hardware and easy to migrate. 2. The platform of J2ME is developed special for the mobile equipment, which is highly efficient and economical. 3. J2ME provides a lot of useful APIs, which could help the programmer to shorten the development period and cost. The practice has proven this platform is reliable and practical. Meanwhile, as the author chooses the TC45 WM as the core component of this platform, it is also an original try on "single MCU"solution. This solution can lower the system' s power consumption, higher the terminal's reliability, which is an innovatively optimized system structure.This paper also has a detailed study and analysis on the widely used data technology, SMS PDU technology, and another promising data technology SAT. The author sincerely hopes that this portion would be valuable to research engineers on this field.At the last chapter of this paper, the author gives some improvement thinks on these two platforms.
