Application Research On PLC Technology And Application In Remote Electric Meter

PowerLine Communication(PLC) is one of the most powerful solutions for the "last one kilometer" problem. Its advantages include laying no wires,wide span range and so on.Based on the comprehension of OFDM modulation technology used in PLC,this project bring forward a design and implementation of PLC modem by using Intellon's latest PLC communication chip--INT5500CS .Then on the basis of PLC modem,the PLC technology is applied to a remote electric meter.The paper firstly introduces project-associated background and technology basis, followed with master plan of PLC modem,hardware module division and implementation of each module.Basic validation examples are given to test PLC modem.Then a prototype of remote electric meter applying PLC tech is given.Followed is the moudle division and implementation of this meter as well as the interface with meter reading software.It has been proved that PLC modem and PLC electric meter achieve basic requirement.The paper also concludes with key technique,testing problem and some experiences.
