The appearance of humanistic psychology has significant influence on communication studies. Based on the summary of theories in humanistic psychology and Maslow's Theory of Hierarchy of Needs, the article discusses the influence of the Theory of Hierarchy of Needs, on the occurrence of communication behaviors, and the development of communication theories, and tries to find a way to construct a harmonious environment for public communication.The study adopts literature analysis method and content analysis. From both aspects of practice and theory, the article discusses the relation between Maslow's Theory of Hierarchy of Needs and communication behaviors and the development of communication theories. Hopefully, the study will guide people's practice.According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, human being has different layers of needs. Once these needs are aware, they will encourage individuals to take actions to meet these needs for their satisfactions. The occurrence of human communication also depends on the satisfactions of needs. In the process of communication, both the sender and receiver have individual needs. Thus, in order to construct a harmonious environment for communicating, the needs of both sides shall be recognized and treated properly. However, in real communication processes, it often happens that both the sender and receiver care for their own needs, resulting in inharmonious circumstances. This study summarizes all these inharmonious sender and receiver relation, and suggests that both the senders and receivers shall recognize the needs of the counterparts, communicate in an equal way.
