This article introduces firstly the research area of telerobot technology, and the increasing application and development of such technology in Robot fields, then introduce the development situation of the telerobot application in science experiment and production. At the same time the paper points out that it is necessary and significative to build a telerobot system which based on the embedded system. The paper then introduce the ARM system structure and the characteristic of embedded system , as well as application of it. The paper emphasize the combination of this two technology to achieve telerobot system design. At last we have a prospect for the telerobot system based on the embedded system.In order to probing profoundly the performance characteristics of embedded system and the means of designing the real-time surveillance system, we analyse the requirement of the telerobot system and work out the application of video collection base on linux operating system , which is running with ARM processor. We following a research method in proper sequence and made steady progress, which constitutes the main point of this dissertation. According to achieve a surveillance system based on embedded system, we perform a research stage by stage in the fields of ARM processor , embedded system, minilinux operating system, the driver of digital camera , video collecting , video compress, etc .After the optimization for the operation system based on the this achievement , we finished the programming of picture and video collectiong and the transfers over LAN.The most creative part of such a system rests with the designing of video collecting and transfering based on Embedded system, which is more convenient than traditional analog signals.
