Demanded for an information collection project, to finish the VGA interface and the PAL interface video capture, encoding, storage and playback capabilities, this paper is designed to complete video capture and encoding system based on the embedded.This system which has the capabilities of video capture, encoding, storage adopts TMS320DM8168as the central processor, together with the NAND FLASH as expansion memory, using the TVP7002and the TVP5150to capture the VGA and PAL interfaces video, using DDR2SDRAM as data cache, and SATA disk as the storage medium to store the video files, using the Gigabit Ethernet to communicate data between systems and external systems, to finish the system’s hardware platform design. The system uses The Linux operating system platform for software development on the ARM Cortex-A8core, to control the external device and to communicate the datas with the outside systems; The TI C674+Nuclear is used to complete the H.264video coding algorithm. As a result of the dual-core processors, The system achieves to separate of between the peripheral controling and the coding algorithm, to convenient system control peripherals, to improve the operational performance of the algorithm, to reduce the redundant circuit design, and to streamline the system structure.
