Offline Browsing Information System Based On SYMBIAN OS

Nowadays, with the rapid development of mobile networks, the focus of competition among different network operators is service competition. And mobile value-added business is becoming one of the most attractive topics in international mobile telecommunication fields.This thesis focuses on describing the author's research about establishing off-line browsing information system on an intelligent platform, which is SYMBIAN OS. SYMBIAN OS is an open and standard OS, and can provide a new approach for mobile uses to communicate, play game, and work. The off-line browsing information system is based on SYMBIAN OS, adopts WAP technique, implement a specific function that is called mobile phone newspaper and includes identifying use's ID, subscribing, canceling subscription, updating and so on. Therefore, mobile phone users could browse the information they subscribe rapidly and conveniently. The system can support some future open standards.In this system, mobile users access mobile network by WAP. Operators provide accessing service. And other providers provide news information. The communication with SMSC/Short Message Gateway is implemented through SMPP. The inter-action between the system and the WAP gateway is guaranteed by adopted HTTP protocols. The communication with all applications implemented on various terminators such as JAVA Class and BREW Class is implemented by some protocols working on application layer.
