Semiconductor Laser Range Finder (SLRF) has great predominance in middle or short distance of range finding, since it has many features, such as simple, small, light, low cost, high repetition frequency and high efficiency. The low output power makes short range and improving the measuring range is the most important problem which needs to be settled urgently. Improving the property of receiving system of SLRF is one of the methods on settling the problem.This paper concentrates on the research of improving the property of receiving system. Lots of researches have done on choosing detection element, design of the bias circuit and low noise amplifier. Design of preamplifier is the key section of the design of receiving system. Especially, APD preamplifier is designed by using computer simulation technology, which is based on noise theory. The experiment shows that the result is identical with theory calculation. Thus it is a high effective and available method on design.
