With the development of mobile communication network, the development and application of new technology and new service become more and more important. SMS have been so important for ISP and ASP as one basic service of mobile communication network. Various application quckily grow based on this.This thesis focuses on the software design of the mobile telephone protocol, and realizes the software of MMI of the short message based on the mobile phone software development platform. Meanwhile, it solely designs and realizes two short message value-added services on the basis of short message module: "Embedded Short Message" and "Sales Tracking".Firstly, the terminal protocol standard is analyzed systemically, especially L3 protocol standard. In accordance with the protocol description and requirements for actual software design, the protocol layer structure of L3 layer has been transferred into diagram of program module, and the related information between interfaces of each module has been defined. According to the similarity in the procedure of realizing unit, the main modularized flow chart has been designed, and the main structure for the relevant Task program has been provided, which offers a theory foundation for the design of the successive software. Secondly, according to specification of L3 layer protocol and software realization requirements, the main modularized program structure has been designed, and on the basis of it, detailed modularized design for specified unit has been done. The thoughts of standard modularized design has been adopted, which increases the independence between modules, greatly reduces coupling between them, and enhances the maintainability and expandability for the development of software.
