The Design And Research Of The Web Media Material Database System Based On XML

Along with the development of network technique, match with multimedia technique,the distance education represent the direction and the trend. The demanding prompt solutionfor the modern advanced distance education is how to enrich the educational resourceextremely so as to meet the needs of the learner. The education material database has becomethe core of the development with network education. Based on analyzing the actuality and theproblems of the media material database, we're mainly concerned with three aspects in thisthesis:Firstly, after illustrating the foreign standards about the construction of the educationalresource simply, then we analyze three standards about the construction of the educationalresource, which includes Learning Object Metadata, Educational Resource DevelopingSpecification, Content Package Specification。Secondly, based on the dissertation of the conception, the superiority and the applicationof the XML technique in the standard construction of the educational resource, the formal andcanonical description of the detail dataset are also given by means of XML. For metadataelement of media material database the description of XML makes it possible to exchangewith other international reference metadata standards. It can be used to construct an openingmetadata space.Lastly, we introduce the realization of the media material database in above twopreconditions. This article will analyze the structure of the media material database, the thesisgives to the media material database an idea of building a framework model with a three-layersystem which contains database layer, middle layer and application layer from bottom to top.This media material database system has lot of advantages such as easy manipulations andquick search. It's easy to share the media material among many educational resource databasesystems and improve the efficiency of media material utilization. Consequently, it can helpthe teachers prepare for lessons and the students independent learning.Although function of the whole media material database is waited for perfection, theresearch of this thesis about building of media material database will have some practicalvalue and guidance meaning.
