Research On Remote Sensing Image Database Based On Metadata

With the development of remote sensing, obtaining, organization, management and share of massive remote sensing image data is becoming the key problem for the user and producer.It is important to find, query, retrieval and access the data you want quickly and correctly. Metadata is data about data , which describes the content, quality, spatial reference system, management and other characteristics of data set.It is the key to solve above problem and is concerded as the core technology for image data sharing and distributed computing.The management and sharing of image data involves four aspects. Firstly, all organizations attending sharing need uniform and stardard metadata; Secondly, the providers of image data need to build a metadata management system. Thirdly, a sharing frame includes every organization must be build. Forthly, electronic trading of image data is a plus.This paper establishes a remote sensing image special metadata standard (draft), designs the management and distribution system of metadata and put forwards an frame of remote-sensing image database based on metadata. In order to build image database, the organization and storage of image data is researched. Finally, a remote sensing image database proto type system which named ImageDE is designed and implemented.
