An important trend of computer network technologies is Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), which is a new and developing study field of a cross-discipline, possesses a bright future and will become a powerful impetus to the sustainable development of Internet. CSCW is new development of synergetic technology in the information age. It is based on the fast development of computer and network technology, and to meet the need of the more and more close cooperation. It will improve the efficiency of work, advance the development of social productive force, and affect the human society's modes of production, working and life deeply. Therefore, a general-purpose software environment is urgently demanded, and it should provide typical services of most kind of cooperative systems and a flexible mechanism of extensibility, so developer can conveniently develop new application systems based on such a platform.On the basis of CSCW theory study, especially the cooperative mode, cooperative control rule and system based on web, this paper emphasizes to research the key problems of structure of cooperative tools, access control, and cooperative awareness.Based on the research on CSCW system and requirement of the task, the thesis confirms the main frame of cooperative tools based on B/S mode and three-layer system architecture. Then, it introduces the key technologies, as fundament of designing the video conference module, electronic mail module, instant massege module, and electronic whiteboard module, which are developed based on JMF-Java Media Framework, RTP (Real-time Transfer Protocol) and Java2 technologies. And in the thesis, Java security techonogy is studied. The problem that Applet can't access and control local resource and devices because of the security limit is resolved by using Digital Signature technology. Finally, some conclusions and prospects are made.
