Design Of Two Channels CAN Bus Virtual Instrument System Based On VXI Bus

The technology of virtual instrument is a milestone of instrument development. As the excellent representation of virtural instrment,the VXI bus is quickly growing and its application widely ranges from test and measurement to industrial automation.It has predominances in building large and medium scale automation test system and in the occasion which needs high accuracy and high speed of data transfer.Being a main type of fieldbus,CAN (Controller Area Network) has the advantages of easiness of building networks and strong anti-interference ability,thus it has a wide application outlook.The combination of CAN bus and VXI bus which supports Plug&Play function will widen the application occasion of CAN further.At the beginning of this thesis, the process of the development and characteristics of virtural instrument,VXI bus and CAN bus technology are briefly introduced respectively.According to their characteristics and practical demands,FPGA EPF6016 and stand-alone CAN controller SJA1000 are chosen to design the VXI-CAN module.Then this thesis introduces the programming of VXI-CAN module driver and application program with the LabWindows/CVI which is the virtual instrument software development environment,and details the software implementation of CAN bus bit rate automatic detecting.In the end,this thesis presents the debugging environment and debugging process,and gives the conclusion of the operation status of the system.The system can fulfill the process of data transforming and transferring between VXI and CAN. It realizes the data communication with joints in a variety of ways using the given user interface.Currently,the combination of VXI and CAN hasn't been widely studied and used.Nevertheless,the advantages of VXI and CAN bring a broad prospect for this field.
